Jim, thank you for your research. Katie Kelsey was John Gale's second wife. The childrens' mother was Mabel Woodworth Gale who died in 1890. I was trying to find the child of John and Katie since on a census of 1900, it is stated they had one child now deceased. Perhaps Katie gave incorrect information..she got John's birth state wrong..he was born in NH. Perhaps she only wished she had a child. Bernice, my grandmother, left home at an early age..probably 16, as she did not like her stepmother, Katie. Albert probably left, too, although I cannot find him. Bernice went to Omaha where she married my grandfather when she was 19. She supported herself before this.
