Scheer ancestors

My great grandfather was Christopher August Scheer who was born in 1842? in Baien? Germany. Family came to U.S. in early 1840's and settled in Dixon, IL. I don't know his mother's or father's names. That is what I am looking for so I can try to trace them back to Germany. There are no records indicating Christopher Scheer's past except his birth date of approximately 1842. He came to Jones County in 1865 and settled there on a farm. He married Engel Jacobs. Please let me know if you have any information. Thanks.
