George W. Mitchell and Sarah Little came to Jones County, Iowa from Illinois during the mid 1800's and settled near the Pleasant Hill area near Rome and Hale townships.

According to Internet sources, Hiram Ransom Long also settled in this area. He has family ties with David Mitchell and Sarah Reid who are buried in the Mitchell-Morrison Cemetery in Scioto Co., Ohio. Hiram married Barbara Cronkhite on November 2, 1853 in Rome, Olin, Jones Co., Iowa. She was the daughter of Orin Cronkhite and Lucinda Saum. Lucinda was the sister of Polly Saum who married Alexander Starry.

Alexander and Polly had a son named Jabez Starry.
Jabez married Jane Lucas Norton Starry after the death of his first wife, Eleanor Simpson Starry. Jane was the daughter of Harmon Lucas and Maria Mansfield. After Harmon's death, Maria married James Wood Ireland. This Ireland family has ties to the above George W. Mitchell family.

I'm wondering if anyone knows if David Mitchell is related to the George W. Mitchell family of Jones County, Iowa.
