Charles Abraham St. John

ST JOHN, IRELAND

Amid all these messages about the Ireland family Perhaps someone knows of Charles Abraham St. John (1861-1912). He married Rosaltha, daughter of James Wood Ireland and Mariah Mansfield Ireland. Rose died quite young and Charles remarried an Alta F. (Stewart, I think) and moved to California in the late 1890s. Rose and Charles had two children, Myrtle L. (1885-1957) and my grandfather Roscoe R. (1889-1967).

I have been able to track Charles fairly well but his parents, William W. St. John and Mary Jane Nash vanished from Jones County after the 1860 census. William was listed as available for service in the civil war but not in Iowa. Instead he was listed in Trumbull County, Ohio where he had been born and lived until 1850. After that I can find no record whatever of William or Mary Jane. They had other children including James in Jones County and Seneca in Clinton County. If anyone has come across any clues to these St. Johns I would love to hear them.
