Hugh Bowen puzzle

Slightly puzzled here about Hugh Bowen. He is living with the Brazleton family in the 1850 census and on the 1852 Richland twsp census with another male so not married yet. As I understand he married Paulina Sheffield (any dates?) and had a son Hugh Bowen Jr. born in 1853 near Monticello. Hugh moved to Denver, CO but did Paulina stay or was left behind as to Hugh Jr. living in Iowa and died 1942 in Taylor County?
