Fred Kreeb Sr., 85 died Tues., Aug. 24 (1965), at John McDonald hospital following an illness of several weeks. Funeral services will be held Fri. at 11am from Goettsch Funeral home with the Rev. J. Benj. Wild officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood cemetery.
Born April 11, 1880, at Milan, Ill., he was the son of John M. and Christine Amman Kreeb. He was married to Mary I. Winans April 24, 1907 at Hopkinton. The couple lived in Minn., returning to Monticello 50 years ago. Mr. Kreeb retired 15 years ago from Hoag Duster company with whom he worked for 27 years
Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Mary Kreeb of Monticello and the following children; Mrs. Arthur (Louise) Holub, Springville; Mrs. Byron (Marie) Bowling, Maquoketa; Fred W., Monticello; Raymond, dyersville, Charles, Muscatine.
Also surviving are seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Lena Hogan, Monticello.MARY KREEB
Services were held April 12 (1985)for Mary Kreeb
97, at the Goettsch Funeral Home, Monticello, with burial at Oakwood Cemetery. The Rev. W. Willis Longer officiated at the services. Mary Kreeb, Monticello died April 10 at the Memorial Care Center, Manchester, after an extended illness.
Mary Winans was born Dec. 15, 1887, at Temple Hill, the daughter of William and Margaret Ketchum Winans. She received her early education in the rural schools near Cascade.
Mary Winans and Frederick W. Kreeb were married April 24, 1907, at Hopkinton. The couple farmed in the Castle Grove Township area, and later farmed near Elk River, Minn. In 1910, the couple returned to Monticello. Mary was employed for many years at Hoag Duster. Her husband, Frederick, preceded her in death on Aug. 24, 1965.
Mary is survived by five children, Louise Holub of Springville, Marie Bowling of Maquoketa, Fred Kreeb of Monticello. Raymond Kreeb of Dyersville and Charles Kreeb of Coralville; 10 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren.My husbands family is from Mary's family.
