Acc. to "History of Jones Co., IA, 1879 (Chicago: Western Historical Co.), p. 622, Hugh Bowen farms Sec 1 in Wayne Twp. His father was an old settler for whom "Bowen's Prairie" was named, died Colorado 1864, wife living in Richland Twp. Hugh Bowen's wife Jane Simmons, a native of Ill, marr. June 1878. They live on farm of her father, Henry Simmons. Hugh Bowen also engaged in hauling milk to the Monticello creamery. No mention of Asa.
