In Monticello Express, dated April 28, 1898; page 4 in Center Junction newsletter, dated April 16, David Smith of Hopkinton, came today to attend funeral of his brother, Wm Smith, who died last night after a prolonged sickness.
(the newletter date is most likely wrong, which I find alot of)

same date, same paper: page 4 in Amber newsletter, dated April 26: W.M. Smith died Monday night after an illness of several months duration. The cause of death was cancer of the stomach. The funeral services will be held at the home of deceased at 11 o'clock tomorrow. Rev Bock will conduct the services.

also checked for a probate notice for him, and found none.
