MRS. A.G. HANKEN DIED YESTERDAY
Mrs. Charlotte Hanken, the wife of A.G. Hanken, died yesterday afternoon, the 23rd inst., after a long illness. Mrs. Hanken was in poor health during the most of the winter and preceding fall. Three weeks ago she recovered from a siege of pneumonia. Other complications followed, however, consequent upon a weak heart and a nervous disturbance. Mrs. Hanken was unconscious during the last two days of life.
Mrs. Hanken was the daughter of Mrs. R.U. Ricklefs. She was born in Stade, Germany, January 11, 1870. She was brought to Monticello with her parents a year and a half later. Here she has since lived, having the respect and esteem of a wide circle of friends. She was married to A.G. Hanken, December 17, 1895. The husband and a daughter, Frieda, aged 13, survive. Mrs. Hanken was a true wife and a good mother, who found the height of happiness in the home, attending to her domestic duties. She was a member of the German Lutheran church of Wayne township.
The funeral services will be held at the family residence Saturday afternoon at two o'clock. They will be conducted by Rev. C. Mardorf, of Wayne, and Rev. M.A. Breed of Monticello.
