A.G HANKEN DIED TUESDAY

Services for A.G. Hanken, 87, will be held from the Devaney Funeral home Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Burial will be made at Oakwood cemetery.

Mr. Hanken died at his home Tuesday, Sept 13, following a long illness.

He was born July 11, 1868, in Wiesede Ostfriesland, Germany, and was confirmed in the Lutheran faith at the age of 15.

He came to the United States in 1883 and settled with his parents in the Monticello territory where he worked in Wayne Township two years.

For six years, Mr. Hanken operated a harness business here until 1891 when he became affiliated in the furniture and undertaking business. He had the distinction of being the first licensed embalmer in Jones County. He retired in 1915.

In December 1895 he was married to Charlotte Ricklefs who preceded him in death in March of 1910. They were the parents of one daughter, Frieda.

August 5, 1912, he was married to Miss Ida Holst at Onslow.

Survivors are his wife, daughter Frieda and nieces and nephews here and abroad. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife and one sister.

Pallbearers are Calvin Reiss, Marvin Holst, Emil Paulsen, W.C. Lang, Paul Tuetken and Carl Harms
