Funeral services for Marlene J. Hansen, 61, Oxford Junction, were held April 4, 1995 at St. Mark's Lutheran church in Oxford Junction, with the Rev. Roy Wingate officiating. Burial was in the Massillon cemetery.
Mrs. Hansen died April 1 at University hospitals in Iowa City, following a long illness.
The daughter of Theodore and Evelyn Richman Bright, she was born Dec. 2, 1933, south of Massillon. She graduated from Wheatland high school in 1951. She worked at the Dixon Savings Bank for 4 years. She married Ronald Hansen in Wheatland Oct. 9, 1955 and they began farming northwest of Oxford Junction.
Mrs. Hansen had been an Avon representative since 1982 and was co-owner and operator of Maitre d'Ames Catering in Oxford Junction from 1984 to 1993.
She was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran church in Oxford Junction and the Evangelical Lutheran Church Women, as well as American Legion Auxiliary Wapsie Unit No. 473 of Oxford Junction, Oxford Junction Senior Housing Board secretary, American Cancer Society local drive chairperson, the Jones County Democratic Party and local election official, and the Oxford Junction Homemakers. She had been a leader of the Oxford Happy Hustlers 4-H Club and was a Jones county 4-H committee member.
Mrs. Hansen is survived by her husband; 2 daughters, Dianne Hansen, Minneapolis, Minn. and Pamela (Mrs. Bradley) Hill, Monroe; a son, Dennis, Little Rock, Ark.; her mother, Evelyn Bright, Wheatland; and a brother, Larry Bright, Ypsilanti, Mich. She was preceded in death by her father.
