Arthur Ehlers 1923-1992

Funeral services for Arthur H. Ehlers, 69, were held at St. Paul's United Methodist church, Olin, Oct. 15, 1992 with the Rev. Edward Frank officiating. Burial was in the Olin cemetery. Pallbearers were Alan Rohwedder, Robert Petersen, Ron Ehlers, Kim Stiff, Ron Nowachek and Nile Husmann. Honorary bearers were Grover Benischek and Ralph Feldman.

Mr. Ehlers died at Anamosa Community hospital Oct. 12.

The son of Albert and Lena Meyer Ehlers, he was born near Stanwood June 3, 1923. He attended schools in the Clarence area. He worked for several years on a farm and then farmed with his father until he married Norma Luckstead at Olin March 24, 1951.

In 1951 he and his father-in-law began a farming partnership which continued until he purchased the farm in 1967. He retired in 1989 and he and Mrs. Ehlers moved to Olin.

He is survived by his wife; a daughter, Debra (Mrs. Michael) Wagner, Olin; 2 grandchildren, Amy and Michael; 2 sisters, Venita (Mrs. Ralph) Rorick, Bennett and Jeanette (Mrs. Sam) Matthews, Jacksonville, Fla. and 3 brothers, Kenneth and Robert, Tipton and Merlin, Sturgis, S.D.

He was preceded in death by an infant sister.
