Funeral services for Mildred E. Burhop, 83, Oxford Junction, were held Aug. 1, 1992 at the Wyoming United Methodist church, with the Rev. Craig Arms officiating. Pallbearers were Ronald Hansen, Merlin Latare, S. L. Schoenthaler, Thomas Cashman, Danny Slouha and Russell Streeper. Honorary bearers were David Flory, Donald Mackey and Lumir Holub. Burial was in the Wyoming cemetery.
Mrs. Burhop died July 29 at the Senior Home in Monticello.
The daughter of Eli and Lorenda Burr Atkins, she was June 9, 1909 in Muscatine. Her mother died when she was 10 and she was adopted by her aunt and uncle, William and Ida Creps. She attended grade school in Muscatine and Rochester, and graduated from Springdale high school. She attended Iowa Teachers College in Cedar Falls and she taught school in Cedar county for 6 years.
She married John Burhop Aug. 26, 1936 in West Branch. The couple farmed near Clarence for 13 years, before moving to their farm northwest of Oxford Junction in 1950.
Mrs. Burhop was a member of the Wyoming United Methodist church and a life member of the United Methodist church women's society.
She is survived by her husband, John; 2 sons, John Jr., Oxford Junction and Gary, Everett, Wash.; a granddaughter, a great-grandson and a sister, Mrs. Ruby Troxel, Muscatine. She was preceded in death by a grandson, 9 brothers and one sister.
