Funeral services for Merle Welty, 70, Onslow, were held May 5, 1992 at Hayden Funeral Home, Wyoming, with burial in the South Mineral cemetery, near Onslow.

Mr. Welty died May 2 at Delaware County hospital in Manchester.

He married Minnie Jensen in 1940 in Tipton.

Mr. Welty operated a truck line in Mt. Vernon until moving in 1970 to Onslow, where he operated the Onslow Corner Tap. In 1976 he started the Welty Truck Line in Onslow. He retired in 1991.

He served as mayor of Onslow for several terms and had been a member of the volunteer fire department. He was a member of Knights of Pythias and White Rose Lodge No. 279 in Martelle.

Mr. Welty is survived by his wife; a daughter, Sharon (Mrs. Charles) Holub, and a son, Kenneth, both of Onslow; his mother, Anna, Mechanicsville; a sister, Myrtle Wright, Lost Nation; a brother, Gerald, Cedar Rapids; 3 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
