OLIN - Peter T. Petersen, 63, of the Hale community died Sunday, Sept. 24, at Anamosa Community hospital, following a sudden illness.

Funeral services were held at St. John American Lutheran church, Olin, on Wednesday afternoon, Sept. 27. The Rev. Harold Tegtmeier conducted the service. Interment was in the Wyoming cemetery.

Pallbearers included Mike Inglis, Carl Markmann, John Clark, Bob Petersen, Bud Kysgard and Dick Rowley.

Mrs. Larry Scharff was organist. Henry Biere, jr., Anamosa, was soloist. Selections included "How Great Thou Art' and "Good night Down Here, Goodmorning Up There."

He was born Dec. 3, 1908, the son of John M. and Pauline Coonrad Petersen in Husum, Germany. In 1923 he and the rest of his family came to the United States and settled in the Wyoming and Onslow area where they took up farming. Soon after arriving in the United States, he got his American citizenship.

In 1924, he married Helen Bennen Conwell and they lived around the Wyoming and Hale areas.

He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. He served in the armed services during World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Helen of Hale; a daughter, Mrs. Jim (Laverna) Glenn, Olin; a son, Bruce Conwell, Hale; his mother, Mrs. Pauline Petersen, Olin; six grandchildren; five sisters, Mrs. Emil (Ann) Paulsen, Onslow; Mrs. Charles (Toni) Hahn, Cedar Rapids; Mrs. Paul (Christine) Ketchum, Olin; Mrs. Magda Hartwig, Hale; and Mrs. Otto (Johanna) Koranda, Oxford Junction.

He was preceded in death by his father.
