Michelle R. Wichman passed away peacefully on February 5, 2026.

She was born on June 2, 1967 in Marshalltown, Iowa to Janice and Glenn Morland. In April 1996, she married the love of her life, Michael in Negril, Jamaica. They were blessed with many golden retrievers, Chief, Shadow, Nick, Fabi and Violet Astronaut as well as cats, Princess and beloved Robert.

Michelle was a lifelong learner, earning undergraduate degrees in Biology, Mathematics and Computer Science before completing her Masters of Science Degree in Preventive Medicine and Environmental Health (Biostatics) and her Executive MBA Degree. She loved to garden and earned her Master Gardner Certification in 2009. During her career with The University of Iowa, she served as President of the University of Iowa Staff Council.

With her passing, Michelle was able to continue impacting lives by being apart of the Iowa Donor Network. Her love, spirit of giving and zest for life will continue to live on through the donation to those in need.

She is survived by her husband of almost 30 years, Michael; her faithful golden retriever, Violet Astronaut; and a host of other family and friends.

Per Michelle’s wishes, no services will be held.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to Friends of the Animal Center Foundation (2456 S Riverside Dr, Iowa City, IA 52246) or the Coralville Community Food Pantry (804 13th Avenue, Coralville, IA 52241). Please send memorials directly to the charity of your choice.
