Funeral services for John H. Lumpa, 89, Iowa City, were held Dec. 17, 1994 at the George L. Gay Funeral Home in Iowa City, with the Rev. Richard Paulus officiating. Burial was in the Memory Gardens cemetery.

Mr. Lumpa died Dec. 14 at his home, following a lengthy illness.

The son of John U. and Dora Elizabeth Hahn Lumpa, he was born Jan. 21, 1905 in Johnson county. He attended rural schools in Johnson county. He married Hilda Niemeyer March 1, 1928 in Iowa City.

Mr. Lumpa was a member of the Farm Bureau.

He is survived by his wife; 4 sons, Raymond, Donald (Anita Mae), and John E. (Helen) Lumpa, all of Iowa City and William (Janet) Lumpa, West Branch; a daughter, Irene (Mrs. Robert) Steinbrech, Solon; 9 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, 3 sisters and 2 brothers.

Memorials may be made to the West Branch fire department and first responders.
