Gregory “Gregg” G. Piper, age 61 of Iowa City, died suddenly at his home on Monday, February 12, 2024.

A time of visitation for family and friends will be held from 2 to 5 pm Saturday, February 17, 2024, at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service. Private family graveside services will take place at Oak Hill Cemetery in Coralville. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established in Gregg’s memory. Gregory Glenn Piper was born May 4, 1962, in Iowa City, the son of Fred and Ryta (Shelton) Piper. Attending schools in Iowa City, Gregg graduated from City High School with the Class of 1980. Gregg has worked most of his adult life at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics before retirement. Many will remember his DJ skills with the University radio station at KRUI; Gregg was also quite the magician, he was a “Treky” anything and everything concerning Star Trek, especially the older stuff, like to target shoot, put models together and because of his working nights for all those years, really was a night owl.

His family includes his wife, Brenda (Ruzek) Piper; daughter and her husband, Ashley and Jordan Corpman; Gregg’s mother Ryta Piper; siblings, Pam Hinkhouse (Glenn), Steven Piper and Gary Piper (Paula); a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

Gregg was preceded in death by his father, Fred M. Piper Jr.
