After his 16 month long battle with glioblastoma, Jason Daniel Allen, 51, of North Liberty, IA, peacefully passed away Wednesday, December 27, 2023, at The Bird House. A Gathering will be held from 5-7, Thursday, January 4, 2024, at Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service, Iowa City. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bird House or The Chad and Jennifer Winterhof Moonshot Fund to Cure Brain Cancer.

Jason was born on May 13th, 1972, in Pocahontas, IA, the son of Dan and Mary (Poppingo) Allen. He graduated from Iowa State University in 1996. Jason was united in marriage to Kristi Schmidt on September 2, 2000, and in April of 2001 started a family he would cherish, and watch grow.

Jason held on to life for his family, his community, and for himself. Every day of his wonderful life he worked as hard as he possibly could, whether that be putting his heart into creating landscape designs, working outside, or making a home perfect for his family. For 28 years he designed scenery for country landscapes, and he enjoyed every minute he spent on his passion.

Jason was a gentle man who was extremely humble and generous. Putting everyone above him was something he would always put as his first priority. Being a busy man, he made sure to spend as much time as he could with his family. Things like watching movies, fishing, enjoying the annual state fair, and many more activities. His selfless soul was taken too soon, but his actions and attitude will have a long-lasting impact on the people around him.

Getting to know Jason meant coming to terms with the fact that he is one of the most interesting people out there. From being number one in Candy Crush without any cheats to being a fantastic pool and darts player. Jason was truly a jack of all trades. Never a dull moment with his dad jokes and enthusiasm for everything and anything Kansas City Chiefs or Cyclone related.

Jason’s kindness was a breath of fresh air, and he always knew the solution to everything. Although he is no longer with us on this earth, Jason will always be the kindest and brightest soul. Look for the things in life that remind you of Jason, and he will always be there with guidance.

Jason is survived by his parents, Dan and Mary Allen of Rolfe, IA; wife, Kristi and three children, Maison, Libby, and Izzy of North Liberty, IA; one brother, Jeremy (Erin) Allen and three children, Sydney, Hayley, and Addy of Columbia, MO.
