Louise Flinn (née Schuette), 83, passed away on December 25, 2023, in Iowa City, IA. Louise was born on October 21, 1940, in Jamestown, NY. She was a loving mother and grandmother, survived by her daughter Denise Romeo and her husband Dom, along with their two sons Dominic and Sonny. She is also survived by her younger daughter Kelly Flinn and her husband John Duignan.

Louise had a distinguished career as Secretary of Staff in the U.S. State Department's Foreign Service office before marriage and motherhood. She went on to spend 30 years on a small farm in Northeast Georgia growing blueberries and raising sheep.

Louise had a vibrant personality and a wide range of interests. She had a passion for decorating, especially during the holidays, and was known for her elaborate displays. Louise also had a deep love for her children, her cats, wild birds, baking pies, and enjoyed strong, black coffee and cold beer. She was a warm and friendly person, always ready with a hug and a smile. Despite her gentle nature, Louise had a secret fierceness and protected her family without pause.

In her free time, Louise enjoyed painting, which allowed her to express her creativity and capture the beauty she saw in the world. She always had a tidy but abundant flower garden and beautiful arrangements on her table. Louise also had a deep appreciation for reading and believed in the power of books to inspire and educate. That is why, in lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to your local Bookmobile. Contributions to your local Bookmobile will help ensure that others can access the joy of reading.

Louise Flinn will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Her warm personality, love for her family, and zest for life will be remembered and cherished by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
