Funeral services for Carlisle C. Erb, 89, Iowa City, were held July 14 at the Beckman-Callahan Funeral Home, with the Rev. Earl Erb officiating. Burial was in the Memory Gardens cemetery. Mr. Erb died July 10 at Lantern Park Care Center after a short illness.

He was born July 7, 1893 in Centerdale to William and Rachel Irey Erb. He attended the West Branch schools and attended Iowa State Agricultural College at Ames in 1915 and 1916. He married Eva V. Areingdale Aug. 22, 1920 in Ottumwa. She died July 3, 1980. The couple had farmed in Cedar and Johnson counties before moving to Iowa City in 1954.

Mr. Erb was employed in the nutrition department of the University hospitals until retiring in 1965.

He was a charter member of the Old Capitol Barbershop Chorus and a 64 year member of the Wapsinonoc Masonic Lodge No. 381 A.F. and A.M. of West Branch. He was also a member of the Bethlehem Shrine No. 8 in Iowa City and the First United Methodist church. He was past secretary-treasurer of the Iowa Natural Foods Association, V.A.M.C. volunteer service organization and the Johnson County Farm Bureau and A.M.O.R.C.

Mr. Erb is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Arnold (Mary Louise) Zajicek, Coralville and one grandson. He was preceded in death by his wife, a brother and a sister.
