Marilyn Burich, 92, of Iowa City passed away November 7, 2023 at Crestview Specialty Care.

Marilyn was born on May 27, 1931 in Ottumwa, Iowa to Anthony and Laurel (Linsley) Angelsberg. She graduated from Lone Tree High School before earning her nursing degree from Mercy Hospital. Marilyn married Robert Burich on May 9, 1953, at First Presbyterian Church in Iowa City. The couple lived in many houses throughout Iowa City due to Bob’s occupation as a builder.

Marilyn worked for The University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, primarily in The Pediatrics Metabolism Department for 36 years, retiring in 1993. She enjoyed golfing, traveling, cheering on The Chicago Cubs, and most of all spending time with her family.

Marilyn is survived by her two daughters Melanie (Michael) Seeber of Madison, WI, and Missy (Joel) Schintler of Iowa City, IA, six grandchildren Anne (Roberto) Yañez-Seeber, Jake Seeber (Jill), Kate Seeber, Molly Schintler (Derek and Lil’), Sam Schintler, and Nicholas Schintler, two great-grandchildren Emiliano and Esperanza Yañez-Seeber, cousins Mike, Carol and Billy, several nieces and nephews, and her best friend Dee Hale.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brother Adrian “Bud” Angelsberg.

Marilyn’s family would like to thank the staff (past and present) at Crestview for their love and care provided over the years.

To celebrate her life, a gathering for family and friends will be Tuesday, November 14, 2023 from 3:00 – 6:00 PM at The Kirkwood Room, 515 Kirkwood Avenue, Iowa City. A private graveside service will be held at The Riverside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Friends of the Animal Center Foundation or Care Initiatives Hospice.
