Faye Duncan (94), recently residing in Iowa City, Iowa, peacefully passed away Monday, May 10, 2021 of natural causes with her son, Ken, by her side. Faye and Bob, her husband of nearly 73 years, recently lived at Melrose Meadows Assisted Living and Briarwood Health Care Center in Iowa City since moving from Huntsville, Alabama in 2016.

Faye was born May 8, 1927 in Chattanooga, Tennessee to James Kenneth Allen and Ina Travena. She married Robert S. Duncan on Oct. 19, 1947.

Faye attended the University of Tennessee, and was a homemaker, raising her two sons, Rob and Ken. She loved gardening, music, playing the piano and organ and spending time with grandchildren.

Survivors include sons Rob Duncan of Huntsville, Alabama and Ken Duncan and wife, Linda, of Coralville, Iowa, grandchildren Robert A. Duncan, Jr., Stephanie Watts (Chris), Drew Hackett (Abby) and Rachel Duncan, great-grandchildren Mason Duncan, Haley Dessicino and Audrey Hackett, and beloved cousins, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert S. Duncan, in August, 2020, parents James Kenneth and Ina (Travena) Allen, and sister Maxine Leonard.

Her family wishes to thank the dedicated staffs of Melrose Meadows Assisted Living and Briarwood Health Care Center for their wonderful care and friendship. You all were a blessing through Faye and Bob’s twilight years.

A private funeral and burial service will be planned for a later date at Greenwood Cemetery in Knoxville, Tennessee.
