Alice Struzynski, 75, of 1768 250th Street NW in Oxford, died Saturday, August 28, 2004 at Mercy Iowa City following a brief illness.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday at 10:00 AM at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Oxford with Reverend Ed Dunn officiating. Friends may call Monday from 2:00 to 8:00 PM at the church, where a Parish Vigil Service will be held at 7:30PM. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Oxford. Memorials may be directed to St. Mary’s Church or the Alice Struzynski Memorial Fund. Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service in Iowa City is in charge of arrangements.

Alice was born October 4, 1928 in Watkins, Iowa, the daughter of Michael A. & Marie A. (Davis) Becker. She graduated from Marengo High School in 1945. Alice married Lambert Struzynski May 21, 1951 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Watkins. For many years, Alice was a school teacher in Iowa County. For 23 years, she was a teaching associate at Clear Creek Amana. She also taught catechism at St. Mary’s Catholic Church for many years.

Alice was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and St. Mary’s Altar & Rosary Society, the Oxford Birthday Club and the National Catholic Society of Foresters.

Survivors include her husband Lambert; five children, Mike (Julie) Struzynski and Bert (Ellen) Struzynski of Oxford, Patsy (Pat) Zimmerman of Coralville, Susie (Andy) Cooper of North Liberty, Donna (Kevin) Puls of Tipton; ten grandchildren; six sisters, Hazel Walton and Dorothy Elgas of Cedar Rapids, Rosey (Tommy) Thompson of Chillicothe, Missouri, Kathleen (Jim) Naso of Crest Hill, Illinois, Shirley (Dale) Hall of Guernsey; four brothers, Glenn (Shirley) Becker of Walker, Clarence (Sharon) Becker of Van Horne, Richard (Joyce) Becker of Kansas City, Kansas, Fred (Vivian) Becker of Williamsburg; sister-in-law Betty Stewart of Marengo; and a brother-in-law Arlo Ginther of Hiawatha.

Alice was preceded in death by her parents, a sister Lillian in infancy; a sister Berniece Ginther; five brothers, Joe, Albert, Bill, Donald and Michael.
