Joseph W. Glasgow, Jr., 84, of 2039 305th Street, Atalissa, died Tuesday, June 15, 2004 at his home.

Funeral services will be held Monday, May 21 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Iowa City. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 2:00-6:00 p.m. with a Vigil at 5:30 at Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service, Iowa City. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the American Heart Association or Iowa City Hospice.

Mr. Glasgow was born January 22, 1920 in Iowa City, Iowa, the son of Joseph W. and Alice (Thoman) Glasgow. He attended 13 schools in 7 states before graduating from Huntington High School, Huntington, IN. He served in the U.S. Army, 47th Infantry, 9th Division, in Europe during World War II.

Mr. Glasgow was a partner in Coralville Salvage Company and GWG Properties. He was trained as a template maker and was a skilled welder. He married Helen Roels in 1943. She died in 1984. He married Darlene Diltz in 1992.

Survivors include his wife Darlene; one son, Michael Glasgow and his wife, Phyllis, of Dyersburg, TN; one daughter, Patricia Gruher and her husband, John, of Portland, OR; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; and one sister, Nancy Cook of Northridge, CA.

He is also survived by his step-children, Sherry and Michael McFadden of Peoria, Arizona; Kathy and Melvin Lovetinsky of North Liberty, Iowa; Bob and Cynthia Diltz of Iowa City, Iowa; Ginny and Jeff Seaton of West Branch, Iowa; Rose Watkins of Palm Bay, Florida; (David)Dave Diltz of Atalissa, Iowa; Jeannette (Nettie) and Jim Ballas, also of Atalissa; Roger and Lisa Diltz of Solon and 17 step-granchildren and 17 step-great-grandchildren.
He is also survived by one sister-in-law, Lucille Zach of Kingman, Az and one brother-in-law, Charles “Chuck” and Martha Hannah of Waxahachie,TX

Mr. Glasgow was preceded in death by his three brothers, Bruce, Keith, and Jack.
