Ann Laurel Kent, 68, of 211 Richards Street, died June 14, 2004 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics following a lengthy battle with breast cancer.

A Memorial Gathering to celebrate Ann’s life will be held Wednesday, June 16, 2004 from 4:00 – 7:00 PM at Lensing Funeral and Cremation Service, Iowa City.
Memorials may be directed to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics Volunteer Services or Iowa City Hospice.

Ann was born August 17, 1935 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, the daughter of Hjalmer N. Johnson and Gladys (Goring) Johnson. She graduated from Iowa Falls High School and the University of Iowa with a BA degree. Ann and Tom Kent were married on December 22, 1957 and celebrated 46 years of marriage.

Ann was very active with the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics Volunteer Services where she volunteered, 7000 hours over the past 31 years. Ann’s greatest joy in life came from spending time with her grandchildren.

Left to cherish her memory include her husband Thomas H. Kent, MD of Iowa City; her three children William F. Kent of Iowa City; Judy Ann Putney of Iowa City and her children Justin R. Putney and Heather Ann Putney; Sally Ann Sell and husband Chad of Eden Prairie, Minnesota and their children Nikolas S. Sell, Mikalyna Ann Sell, Natalie Ann Sell and Calder T. Sell; her mother Gladys M. Johnson of Lantern Park Nursing and Rehabilitation Center; and brothers Curtis L. Johnson of Chicago, Illinois and Bruce L. Johnson of Ames, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her father.
