News: Five Deaths Again Today... (1918)

FIVE DEATHS AGAIN TODAY OF INFLUENZA
Two in S.A.T.C. and Two in the City. New Cases Fewer.

There were five deaths in the twenty-four hour period ending this afternoon from pneumonia and influenza, two in the City and two of the S.A.T.C. and one Monroe township lady died at Cedar Rapids.

Number of cases reported heretofore [?] Number today 5. Total deaths 86.

The Dead.
Mrs. LeRoy Cole, 282 East Bloomington.
Baby Mona Luviano, three month old Mexican babe.
Justin Kellener son of John Kellener, 1189 East Burlington, member of S.A.T.C.
Wallis Carpenter, age 29, son of A.A. Carpenter, Mr. Pleasant, member of S.A.T.C.
Sixteen year old daughter of Fred Kadera, Monroe Township

The number of new cases in the S.A.T.C. for the past 24 hours is 7. No new cases of pneumonia. There are fewer cases in the hospital than at any time in the last ten days, [?] men having een discharged all told 86 yesterday. There are a half dozen cases very serious.

In the City.
In the city the situation is better with only 16 new cases and many cards being taken from the placarded residences. There are a number of very serious cases in the city and some deaths will likely result.
