JOHNSON rites set

Funeral services for Jayne J. JOHNSON will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at First Lutheran Church with the Rev. Keith Lingwall officiating. Burial in Evergreen Cemetery. Memorials may be to the First Lutheran Church.

Mrs. JOHNSON, 87, 304 South C, died at 1:35 p.m. Saturday at Jefferson County Hospital. She had been in failing health for three months.

She was born Dec. 4, 1890 in Jefferson County, the daughter of William and Mary BETHOL (sic - BEGHTOL) JONES. She married Herman JOHNSON on March 12, 1930 (sic - March 8th, 1930) in Fairfield. He died Sept. 18, 1967. She was a 50-year resident of the Fairfield community, and the last of a family of six.

Surviving are a daughter, Geraldine GREENFIELD, two sons, Gene LEEDY, also of Fairfield, and Donald LEEDY of Portland, Ore.; two step-children, Helen BAKER of Fairfield and Leonard JOHNSON, San Francisco, Calif.; 17 grandchildren, five step-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren. One son, preceded her in death.

Mrs. JOHNSON was a member of the First Lutheran Church, Hawkeye Rebekah Lodge, 386, Degree of Honor, Royal Oaks, Dorcas Circle and Quilters of the church.

Behner Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements where the family visitation will be held from 7 to 8.

Note: Buried in Lot 2nd.261 with third husband John Herman JOHNSON. She was first married to Eliga/Lige MYERS, second to George Elbert LEEDY, and third to John. John was married previous to Jayne, to his first wife Ida M. SANDQUIST who died in 1929. Jayne, John, and Ida are all on the same gravestone.
