Ardith JOHNSON dies at 68

Ardith JOHNSON, 68, a resident of Fairfield since 1927, died at 9:15 a.m. today at her home at 1000 S. Second St. after an illness of several months.

Services will be held Monday at 10:30 a.m. at the First Christian Church with the Rev. Charles Kincaid officiating. Burial wil be in Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be held Sunday from 2:30 to 4 p.m. at the Raymond Funeral Home.

Mrs. JOHNSON was born Dec. 29, 1914 in Rubio, the daughter of L. Berne and L. Ella MATLOCK LUITHLY. She graduated from Richland High School and received her degree in dietetics and home economics at Iowa State University in 1936.

She was married July 25, 1937 to Albert C. JOHNSON Jr., who survives. Also surviving are a son, Joel JOHNSON, Dallas, Tex.; a daughter, Jill MOSER, Fairfield; and four grandchildren.

Mrs. JOHNSON worked in all levels of Girl Scouting. She organized Senior Scouting in Fairfield and served as local commissioner for three years. She operated a nursery school at her home and later headed the Parsons College Laboratory Nursery School. She also served as dietician at the Jefferson County Hospital.

She was a member of the First Christian Church, a charter member of Chapter MB, PEO; a member of Wit and Wisdom Club and the National Association of Retired Federal Employees.
