Page 3, Column 3Sad Death.--A rather sudden and peculiarly sad death occurred on the 26th of July at the home of R. M. MOYER, near Baker P. O., in the person of the little daughter of Mr. and Mrs. G. W. JOHNSON, of Lincoln, Neb. The sickness was that much dreaded and fatal disease, cholera infantum, to which the little one succumbed in two days. The death was an unusually sad one as mother and child had just bid adieu to the fond husband and parent in Lincoln but a week before, the child being bright and well. The sad message was sent to Mr. JOHNSON, "Baby is dying," but ere he arrived the dear and exceptionally beautiful little tender rosebud of the morning had been nipped by the chilling frost of death.
At all times the angel of death is an unwelcome visitor, but in this case it was doubly so, as the father was away and the loving young mother sick in bed, ill prepared for such a great bereavement. When the remains of the little blighted flower in the cruel little casket of white was carried to the bedside of the mother for a last look, her only remaining child, Rollie, a bright little boy of less than three years, seemed to realize that his lovely little sister of but nine months was to be taken from him, and cried as if his little heart would break, saying, "What they going to do with baby?"
Truly the ways of Providence are mysterious; but He doeth all things well, and the fond parents now can feel that they are tied to heaven with a golden cord, and that there is a gentle spirit hovering over them, ever beckoning, "Come up and live with Jesus and the perfectly happy immortal soul of your once mortal Amy."
