A. C. JOHNSON dies suddenly

Albert C. JOHNSON Jr., retired Fairfield postal official, died suddenly this morning in Red River, N.M.

Arrangements are pending at the Raymond Funeral Home.

JOHNSON, 1000 S. Second St., left last Thursday to visit his son, Joel, and family in Dallas, Tex.

A native of Fairfield, JOHNSON spent nearly 44 years in the U.S. Postal Service. He retired as assistant postmaster in 1980.

JOHNSON's wife, Ardith, died June 24, 1983.

Saturday rites for JOHNSON

Funeral services for Albert C. JOHNSON Jr., 67, retired Fairfield postal officer, will be held Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at the First Christian Church with the Rev. Charles Kincaid officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.

JOHNSON, 1000 S. Second St., died in his sleep Wednesday at Red River, N. M. He had gone to New Mexico with his son, Joel, and family, who reside in Dallas, Tex.

The family will receive friends Friday from 7 to 8 p.m. at the Raymond Funeral Home. A memorial has been established at the First Christian Church.

JOHNSON was born April 13, 1916 in Fairfield, the son of Albert C. and Elsie DAVIS JOHNSON. His postal career began when he joined the Fairfield office as a temporary substitute clerk. He was named clerk in 1936, a post he held for 24 years.

JOHNSON was named superintendent of mails in 1960 and assistant postmaster in 1963. He retired in 1979 after nearly 44 years of service.

JOHNSON was married to Ardith LUITHLY July 25, 1937. She preceded her husband in death June 24, 1983.

JOHNSON was a past state president of the National Association of Post Office Clerks. He was a veteran of World War II, a member of the First Christian Church, a past president of the local chapter of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees, a member of the Masonic Lodge and Wit and Wisdom Club.

Survivors include one son, Joel; one daughter, Jill MOSER, Fairfield; four grandchildren; his mother, Elsie JOHNSON, Fairfield; and a sister, Virginia JOHNSON, Des Moines. His father and one brother are deceased.
