LOCAL NEWS BRIEFS.

...--Mrs. C. C. Conner of Ottumwa, John CRAWFORD, of Stockport, and Fred CRAWFORD of Alliance, Neb., were called here to attend the funeral of Wm. CRAWFORD.

WILLIAM CRAWFORD DIED EARLY SUNDAY

The funeral services for William CRAWFORD of Alliance, Neb., were held this afternoon at 3 o'clock from the home of his sister, Mrs. H. V. DOWNS, on South Main street in charge of Rev. Mosser, and the remains were laid to rest in Evergreen cemetery. He had been in very poor health for some time and passed away yesterday morning at 2 o'clock.

Mr. CRAWFORD was born in Jefferson county, Iowa, May 8, 1853. His boyhood days was (sic) spent of a farm three and a half miles south of Fairfield. Early in life he united with the Methodist church and has remained a faithful member ever since. He attended school at Birmingham, Iowa, and Valparaso (sic), Ind., and taught school for some years in Jefferson county, Iowa, and for some years was an instructor in the school for boys at Eldora, Iowa. He afterwards moved to Plattsmouth, Neb., and afterwards to Alliance, Nebraska where he resided on a ranch. There remains to mourn his loss one son, Fred, of Alliance, Neb., one son, Paul of Canada, one son-in-law, Clyde JOHNSON of Chicago, Ill., his daughter having died two years ago in Chicago.
