FUNERAL HELD FOR ROY S. COWEN

Fairfield -- Last rites for Roy S. COWEN, Van Buren county farmer who died Thursday morning, were held Saturday afternoon at the Weston Behner Funeral home.

Burial was in Evergreen cemetery.

COWEN took his own life by hanging early Thursday morning. His body was found in the entrance to a silo of his farm located northwest of Birmingham.

It is believed despondency over ill health caused COWEN to take his own life.

Roy S. COWEN, 52, was born Oct. 11, 1902, near Packwood(.) He was united in marriage to Opal CONGER at the Little Brown Church at Nashua, Ia.

Besides his wife, he is survived by one son, Roy S. Jr., at home; two brothers, Charles COWEN, Packwood, and Jack COWEN, Mr. Pleasant; and his father and step-mother, Mr. and Mrs. James COWEN, Fairfield.

He was preceded in death by his mother and one sister.
