FOUND DEAD

GYP, the southwest corner mascot, was found cold and stiff in the remorseless grip of the avenger this morning. By an oversight GYP was left outside when the stores were closed last night and the cold night was too much of a strain on his constitution.

GYP's ancestry was composed principally of dog, but he was a good dog and appeared grateful for favors. He drifted in over the "Weary Willie" route and seeming to take a fancy to the sourthwest corner, there he staid.

*Transcribed for genealogy purposes. I am not related to GYP or his lineage, that I know of.

------
Transcriber note: This item was found in the microfilm records of this newspaper on file at the Fairfield Public Library while searching for a "human" genealogy obituary on May 1, 2010. Since the publisher of the Fairfield Daily Journal at the time in 1905 saw fit to publish this obituary, it seemed worthy of inclusion in this obituary section as well.

The age of "GYP", in dog years or otherwise, was not provided. A cemetery location was not indicated, either.
