High winds broke out plate glass windows of the Packwood Grocery store in the spring storm of 1963. The store was owned by Roby and Ildrie JOHNSON at the time and located on the west side of Main Street. Also during the 1963 storm, a 325-foot microwave tower was knocked down, winds were estimated at 85 miles per hour and most of the Packwood School roof was blown away.
