James Gulling Rites Wednesday
Prairie City – Funeral services for James Garfield Gulling, 91, a longtime resident of the Prairie City community, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Walters funeral Home in Prairie City.
The Rev. Vernie Gilbert of Des Moines will conduct the services. Burial will be in Vandalia Cemetery.
Survivors are a son, Blake of Mitchellville; a daughter, Mrs. Lewis (Pearl) Miller of Prairie City; six grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Myrtle in April, 1943, and a son, Ralph, in 1968.
The son of Celestine and Sarah Maudruw Gulling, he was born Sept. 30, 1880 at Percy and attended Jasper County schools.
He was married to Myrtle Perryman in 1902 in Percy.
Mr. Gulling died Sunday enroute to a hospital.
