Jerry Hudson Obituary
Jerry Jay Hudson, 84, of Collins died on Saturday, April 4, 2026, at his home. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, April 11, at Bethany United Church of Christ in rural Baxter. A celebration of life with a luncheon will be held immediately following the service until 2:00 p.m. at the Baxter Community Center. Memorials in Jerry’s name may be left at the church the day of the service or at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory (checks payable to Mark Hudson).

Jerry, the son of Theodore and Lois (Swalwell) Hudson, was born on August 21, 1941, in Maxwell. He grew up in Collins and graduated from Collins High School. On October 25, 1959, Jerry married his high school sweetheart, Katherine “Kathie” Breer at the Ashton Chapel in rural Mingo. Jerry received his Bachelor’s Degree in Theology – full Gospel Ministerial Ordination in 1988. He was a lifelong learner and reader and had taken college courses in Woodworking, Machine Shop, Gunsmithing, Art, and Aviation Education and Flight School for small engine planes, flying a Mooney Cadet.

Jerry enjoyed doing many different jobs and especially the friends he met along the way including being a farmer, ranch hand, carpenter, heavy equipment operator, factory laborer, park ranger, artist, and ordained minister. In 2003, he retired from Tones Spice but continued to work hard farming and keeping up with his children and grandchildren. Jerry loved growing up and living in Iowa; where he had the open spaces and time outdoors to hunt, fish, and “just think”. He had the most fun though being with his grandkids and attending their activities.

Jerry is survived by his three children, Christine (Terry) Hinshaw of Kellogg, J. Mark (Diane) Hudson of Collins, and Jospeh (Bertha) Hudson of Zambia; grandchildren, Rebecca (Chase) Lucas, Ben (Carolyn) Hinshaw, Katie (Nick) Cook, Nate Hinshaw, Brian Hudson, Craig (Kaila) Hudson, Elizabeth Brown, Kimberly Otten, Jeremiah Hudson, Elijah Hudson, Zechariah Hudson, and Joseph Jerry Hudson; and 14 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ted Hudson and Lois Cross; wife, Kathie Hudson; a sister, Gay Hudson Biery and brother, Theodore Hudson, Jr.
