John Weldon Williams
January 29, 1961 - March 10, 2026John Weldon Williams, age 65, of Newton, Iowa, gained his angel wings on March 10, 2026. A time of food and fellowship to celebrate John's life will be held at the First Baptist Church of Colfax on Friday, March 27, 2026, at 11:00 AM.
The son of Richard and Kay (Thompson) Williams, John was born on January 29, 1961, in Newton, Iowa. John was raised in Colfax, Iowa and graduated from Colfax High School in 1979. John then went on to attend several colleges and later graduated from Iowa State University with multiple degrees. John worked at several restaurants during this time and spent many years traveling to different parts of the country. John lived in many different places but spent most of his life in Iowa. He later worked for the prison system and retired in 2017.
John was a very kindhearted person who enjoyed spending time with his family, friends, and his church. His favorite thing to do was play games, specifically "Rummikub" and many different card games. John enjoyed seeing movies and loved trying new foods. He also enjoyed cooking and sharing meals with family and friends. John had a big sweet tooth, his favorite dessert, Lemon Supreme Pie. When John was little, he was a very gullible boy, his sisters enjoyed playing pranks on him. John loved to say he couldn't chew gum and walk at the same time, always creating laughter for others. John will be remembered for his storytelling and contagious laugh. To know John was to love John, he didn't know a stranger.
John is loved by his sisters, Donna (Mike) O'Braza, and Barb (Raymond) Kinart; nieces and nephews, Amy (Billy) Witte, Angie (Brent) Berger, Matt (Mandy) O'Braza, and Stacy (Angelie) O'Braza-Pereda; as well as 13 great nieces and nephews.
He will be welcomed in Heaven by his parents, Richard and Kay Williams; and a nephew, Christopher O'Braza.
Memorials may be directed to the First Baptist Church of Colfax and can be left at the church, funeral home, or mailed to Coburn Funeral Home, 24 W Howard St, Colfax, Iowa 50054.
