Colfax – Anna Lester, daughter of the late John and Cora Lester, was born near Colfax March 28, 1885, and died at her home Jan. 3, 1946, at the age of 60, after a long illness. She lived in or near Colfax all her life.
On Feb. 8, 1903, she was married to Mell Ward and to this union five children were born.
Surviving are her husband, Mell Ward; three daughters, Mrs. John (Ethel) Pickles of Kellogg, Mrs. Donald (Ella) Beals, and Mrs. William (Anna) Thompson of Colfax; two sons, Edward of Colfax and Everett at home; one sister, Mrs. James De Moss of Emmetsburg; three brothers, John of Newton and Charles and Sam of Colfax; ten grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Her parents, two sisters and two brothers preceded her in death.
Funeral services were held at the Methodist church in Colfax Sunday, Jan. 6, at 2:30 o’clock. The Rev. Paul Potter was in charge and the music was provided by Mrs. Earl Plummer and Mrs. Floyd Hulse, accompanied by Mrs. George Rinker, pianist. The flower committee included Mrs. Colleyn Orcutt and Mrs. Gus De Camp. The pallbearers were Roy Faidley, John Stewart Tony De Camp, Chester Krebs, Gus De Camp, and Cleo Wall. The interment was in the McKeever cemetery near Colfax.
