Former Resident of Jasper County Dies in Grinnell
Kellogg – Mrs. Melita Elliott, 82, former resident of Clear Creek township, died Monday at 11:20 a.m. at the Community hospital in Grinnell, following a six week illness.
Funeral services will be conducted this afternoon from the Primitive Baptist church in Grinnell and burial will be in the Rock Creek cemetery.
Surviving relatives include three sons, Elery of Grinnell, Otto of Rock Creek township, and Edson of Des Moines.

The pall bearers were Lee Adkins, George Decatur, Harry Crowder, Theodore Risse, Fred Adkins and Ira Shields. Burial was made in the family lot in Rock Creek cemetery.
Melita Phipps was born in Wayne county, Ky., Jan. 17, 1865, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Eli Phipps. She came to Iowa with her parents when a young girl and the family located in Rock Creek township.
Here she united in marriage to John Elliott who preceded her in death a number of years ago. After his death she moved to Grinnell where she has made her home since. Death came after a long period of illness.
Surviving relatives include three sons, Otto who resides on the home place in Rock Creek; Elery of Grinnell; and Edson of Des Moines.
