View Tribute BookChristina Mae “Chris” Anderson, 73, of Newton, Iowa, passed away on December 4, 2025, with her loving husband, Jack, by her side. She was born on May 1, 1952, at Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa, to Ray and Marylyn (Worthington) Pryor.
Chris grew up in Des Moines, graduating from North High School before attending AIB for a year. On June 27, 1970, she married the love of her life, Jack Roy Anderson, in Des Moines. Together they built a beautiful life filled with faith, adventure, and devotion to their family.
For many years, Chris worked as an executive secretary at the Maytag Company, where her dedication and professionalism were deeply appreciated. She was a longtime member of First Baptist Church in Newton and enjoyed serving as the church clerk, a role she carried out with care and commitment.
Chris embraced life with a joyful spirit. She and Jack spent many years riding motorcycles together, and she loved telling people that she still held her motorcycle license long after they stopped riding. In her younger years, she was an athlete on roller skates, impressing everyone at the local rink. She also enjoyed bicycling with Jack, especially along the trail at Lake Red Rock. Chris had an eye for collecting special things, and one of her greatest joys was gathering Japanese items, inspired by Jack’s time stationed in Japan during his military service.
Above all, Chris cherished her family. She is survived by her husband, Jack; her sons, Joseph R. (Halee) Anderson and C. Scott Anderson; her grandsons, M. Brix Anderson, Jaxon Anderson and Joseph Looney; and her granddaughter, Alison Yvonna Anderson. She is also survived by her “Aunt Nellie”; cousin Bobbi Bendt; and brothers Ray “Skip” Pryor, Kenneth Pryor, and David Pryor.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her uncle Donal Worthington; and her sister-in-law, Diane R. Babcock.
A celebration of Chris’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, at First Baptist Church in Newton, Iowa. The family will greet guests during visitation at the church from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Following the service, all are invited to remain for a luncheon and time of fellowship with Jack and the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Chris’s name to First Baptist Church in Newton.
