Funeral Services Held
Funeral services for C. A. Sloan were conducted Monday afternoon at the Christian church at 2 o’clock with Rev. A. H. Schultz, pastor of the Lutheran church, in charge of the rites. Burial was in the Antle cemetery west of Kellogg. Music was furnished by a quartet composed of Mrs. I. H. Hospers, Rebecca Watts, R. C. Birchard and T. L. Birchard, accompanied by Mrs. Glen Breckenridge, who sang “One by One Our Loved Ones Leave Us,” “Come Unto Me When Shadows Gather,” and “He Knows It All,. Pall bearers were F. T. Hammer A B. Craven, John L. Phipps, Keelon Keeton, William Gilreath, Fred Kleever.
Cyrus Allen Sloan, son of Cyrus Sloan and Flora Thomas Sloan, was born in Linesville Co., Ala., Feb. 25, 1843, being a few days past 85 years at the time of his death, which occurred Saturday afternoon, March 24, 1928, at his home in Kellogg, from influenza. The greater part of his life was spent in Kentucky, coming to Kellogg about 10 years ago.
He is survived by wife, Mrs. Martha Sloan, and four daughters, Mrs. C. A. Smith, Mrs. Amanda Stewart, Miss Flora Sloan and Mrs. Claude Keeton of Grinnell. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Mrs. Gibson.
