Celebration of Life for Jerry William Opelt, 77, of Ridgedale, Mo., will be held March 9, 2019, 9:30 a.m., at the Hollister Historic Train Depot, Esplanade Street, in Hollister. Services and cremation were under the direction of Cremations of the Ozarks. He died March 5, 2019.
Jerry was born Nov. 4, 1941, in Brownsville Texas, son of Theodore and Connie Opelt. He graduated in 1960 from Mingo High School and then moved to Waterloo, Iowa. He was joined in marriage Jan. 30, 1965, to Betty DeVries. During his working career, he was finance manager with Beneficial Finance, agent at American Family Insurance and salesperson for hotel rooms in Branson. Throughout his life, he was an avid Green Bay Packer's fan.
He enjoyed watching and playing golf, learning new things and spending time with his dog, Sophie.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Buddy Opelt; an infant daughter and granddaughter, Paige.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years; daughter, Stacey (Trevor) Halfmann, of Kansas City, Mo.; son, Scott (Michelle) Opelt, of Memphis, Tenn.; five grandchildren and one great-grandson.
