Dale E. Nichols Dies Wednesday; Rites Saturday
Dale E. Nichols, 49, of 702 E. 25th St. S., a resident of Newton for 26 years, died Wednesday afternoon at Skiff Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Wallace Funeral Home.
The Rev. B. L. Payne, pastor of the Immanuel Baptist Church, will conduct services. Burial will be in Newton Memorial Park Cemetery.
Wallace Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Friends may call at the funeral home after 9 a.m. Friday.
Survivors are his wife, Georgia; a son, Edward, at home; a daughter, Sondra, of Palmer, Tenn., and his mother, Mrs. Ethel Nichols of Lakeside Calif.
Also surviving are six brothers, Kenneth Nichols of La Mesa, Calif., Arnold Nichols of Chico, Calif., Leonard Nichols of Des Moines, Wayne Nichols of Des Moines, Earl Nichols of Colo and Danny Nichols of Newton and two sisters, Florence Griffin and Norma Lee Melson, both of Lakeside, Calif.
He was preceded in death by his father, Oscar, and two sisters, Myrtle Hook and Bernita Nichols.
Mr. Nichols was a member of the Immanuel Baptist Church and UAW, Local 997.
Mr. Nichols recently retired from the Maytag Co., where he was an inspector.
The son of Oscar and Ethel Chevelle Nichols, he was born Jan. 1, 1931 at Farrar.
He attended schools at Valeria and Mingo and was graduated from Mingo Community High School.
He was married to Georgia Henry Jan. 22, 1954 in Newton.
