Delbert Mills, 84, died Friday, November 12, 2004 at Taylor House in Des Moines. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, November 17, 2004 at the Runnells Christian Church with burial at Lowman Cemetery in Runnells.
Delbert was a retired teacher in the Des Moines area and also a farmer. He had received his Masters degree from Drake University and his Bachelors from Iowa State Teachers College. Delbert was also a Captain in the US Marines. He was a member of the Runnells Christian Church, the American Legion Ernest West Post 689, Farm Bureau Director and past President Kappa Delta Phi, ad Phi Gamma U.
Delbert is survived by his wife, Bernadine Mills of Runnells; sons, Leroy Mills and wife Marilyn of McClean, VA and Brian Mills of Runnells; daughters Christiana Purington and husband Curtis of Eagan, MN and Berdena Struck and husband Dennis of Ireton, IA; brothers, Dale Mills of Unionville, IA and Jerald Mills of Runnells; sisters, Bonnie Hunnell of Des Moines and Nancy Brown of Pleasant Hill; mother Nan Mills of Pleasant Hill; and grandchildren, Ryan Struck, Allison Struck, Michelle Mills, and Taylor Purington.
He was preceded in death by his sister Dorothy Altes and father Monty Mills.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Richardson Funeral Home in Carlisle. Memorial contributions can be made to the Runnells Christian Church or Taylor House.
