Steven J Loupee, 74, of Hollywood, Florida, passed away on September 8, 2024.

Steven was born on January 12, 1950, in Newton, Iowa to Loren and Naomi (Achtermann) Loupee. He graduated from Newton High School and went on to the University of Iowa where he received a bachelor’s and master’s degree in physical therapy. Steven was a long-time member of the American Physical Therapy Association, from whom he won the Mary McMillan award for his master’s thesis. He worked as a physical therapist in Iowa, Minnesota, and Wisconsin for over 40 years. Steven was a sports fan, and especially loved his Iowa Hawkeyes and Minnesota Twins.

Steven loved sports and the outdoors. In high school he played basketball, football and ran track; and won the high hurdles in the Drake Relays. He enjoyed playing golf and caddying in tournaments for his wife of 33 years, Maria Sera. Steven was very proud of his college summer job as a Park Ranger in the Grand Tetons National Park. He loved hiking, canoeing, sailboarding, skiing, cycling--- all things outdoors. Steven and Maria made their home in the Twin Cities area of Minnesota for 34 years before retiring in Florida. Steve was a kind, funny, and gentle man who will be missed every day by his family and many friends.

Steven is survived by his wife, Maria Sera; mother-in-law, Haydee Sera; sister, Beth Campbell; sister-in-law, Gipsi Sera (Utpal Bhattacharya); nieces, Alison Campbell (John Rentschler), Joy Bhattacharya; nephews, Peter Campbell (Lacey), Michael Kaderabek (Molly Glassey); great-niece, Finley Campbell, and many cousins including Newton native, Melissa Broderson.
