William "Bill" Anton Goodman
October 29, 1964 ~ August 15, 2024 (age 59)

William “Bill” Anton Goodman, 59, of Newton died on Thursday, August 15, 2024 at MercyOne Newton. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Bill was born to biological parents, Richard and Rebecca (McBride) Goodman, on October 29, 1964 in Ames, Iowa. Following his mother’s death, Bill and his brother, Garry, were raised by their parents, Garry and Kay Wion. Bill graduated from Newton High School and went on to earn his Bachelor’s degree in small business management. On August 31, 1991, Bill was united in marriage with Julie Wichhart. Bill had a passion for anything with wheels and that went fast, bikes, sprint car racing, RC cars, and NASCAR. He worked at Irwin’s Bikes and later Kyle’s bikes before his retirement in November 2021. He also enjoyed fishing and going on cruises and was the sound man for the Newton Community Theatre. Bill was also admired for how deeply he cared for his friends and family and would always go out of his way to help them.

Bill is survived by his wife, Julie (Wichhart) Goodman; brother, Eric (Debbie) Wion; father, Garry Wion; nephews, Jordan Wion and Nicolas Flattum. He was preceded in death by his biological parents; mother, Kay Wion; brother, Garry Goodman; grandparents; and father-in-law, Ralph Wichhart. Memorials in Bill’s name may be directed to the Newton Community Theatre or checks payable to Julie Goodman may be left at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory.
