Tuesday, June 11, 2024, Harold Rozendaal, 88, of Sully, passed away at the Hospice of Pella Comfort House. Funeral services were held Monday, June 17, at 10:30 a.m. at Sully First Reformed Church. Interment was in Sully Cemetery. Memorials can be given for the Hospice of Pella Comfort House.
Harold Wayne Rozendaal was born Nov. 2, 1935, in Sully. He was the first of six children born to Albert E. and Cora (Van Gilst) Rozendaal. Harold attended Richland Center Country School and graduated from Sully High School. Harold was united in marriage with Shirley J. Wichhart on June 5, 1958. To this union three children were born: Sherry Lynn, Sandra Sue, and Kevin Chris. Together they lived near Sully for several years. Shirley’s health became compromised, and she passed away on Mar. 28, 1986, at the age of 46.
Harold was a hard worker, working in his younger years for  Sully Creamery and farming. He later did masonry work for Sam Schmidt and became self-employed operating HR Construction, specializing in masonry, and also sold MoorMan’s Feed.
After being introduced by good friends, Harold met Velma Kay Jansen. They were so thankful to find each other and were married on Sept. 19, 1987. It was a beautiful fall day surrounded by their loving families. Together, they enjoyed traveling to Greece, Alaska three times, and California by train, as well as  spending time with their united families. Harold enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, antique tractors, and listening to gospel music by the Gaithers. One of his favorite places to visit was the Lake of the Ozarks. He was a faithful member of Sully First Reformed Church. Faith was very important to Harold, and he lived each day for God.
Harold is survived by his loving wife Velma Rozendaal of Sully and their families: Sandra (Brent) De Jong of Sully, Meggan and Pavlos Vasileiadis, Theodore, Matthew, and Risa of Athens, Greece, Morgan and Dan Jameson, Mae, and Ellis of Poplar Grove, IL, Christopher and Kelly De Jong of Waterloo; Kevin (Kim) Rozendaal of Little Elm, TX; stepson Bryan L. (Sharla) Dieleman of Pella, Brady (Alicia) and  Brendon.
Harold is also survived by his brothers Alvin (Shirley) Rozendaal, Cassell (Beverly) Rozendaal, Russell (Lois) Rozendaal, and Earl (Marcia) Rozendaal; and his sister-in-law Evelyn Rozendaal.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Shirley, daughter Sherry Lynn on Nov. 15, 2023, and brother Donald Rozendaal.
