Rodney (Rod) Max Roskilly, the son of Glen Max and Phyllis Marie (Hake) Roskilly, was born October 23, 1961, in Salina, Kansas. Rod graduated from the Fort Dodge Senior High School, and went on to graduate from Iowa State University, solidifying himself and his family as lifelong Iowa State Cyclone fans.

On August 6, 1983, Rod was united in marriage with Mary Beth Johnson at Ellsworth United Methodist Church in Fort Dodge, Iowa. Rod began his career as a Civil Engineer for Maytag, eventually retiring in 2019 from John Deere. Rod was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Newton.

Rod passed on Monday, May 27, 2024, at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester Minnesota. He was 62 years old. Rod was preceded in death by his wife, Mary, on May 11, 2023.

Those left to honor Rod's memory include his sons, Scott Roskilly, Kyle Roskilly, Jason (Stephanie) Roskilly and Zach (Brooke) Roskilly and; his two brothers, Dan (Sara) Roskilly and Shawn Roskilly; his sister, Pam (Bob) Perry, his parents; Phyllis and Max Roskilly, and his granddaughters, Sofie and Collins Roskilly.

Rod was beloved by his friends, children, parents, siblings and anyone else who met him. He loved fishing, especially during his annual trip with his brothers, beating his boys at pool, boating and lounging at the lake with his friends and family, and golfing with his friends every week. He enjoyed building and improving things from his bar to his golf slice. His passion, however; wasn't just building things, but getting to show them off and share them with those he loved. He loved to look cool, and he was.

He was generous with his time, someone who could and would fix anything. His children regularly called him for help figuring out fixes to their home and life in general. If his friends mentioned something was wrong, he rose to the occasion and did whatever needed to be done. There was never anything that wasn't important enough for him to take care of and lend a helping hand. He was loyal to his wife, Mary, and he epitomized "in sickness and in health" over the last five years of her life. He never complained about getting to love her through anything. He was a great father to his children, and even some of their friends on occasion. He coached all the sports teams for all four of his boys. He taught them to change a tire. He taught them to ride a bike. He showed them how to treat a partner. He showed them how to be great men by example.

A Celebration of life will be held at the Roskilly residence, 468380 Legion Street in Newton on June 8th from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
