Melvin C. Blood, 81, of Des Moines, died of a lung ailment Nov. 19, 1995, at Mercy Hospital Medical Center. Services were held Nov. 22 at Richardson Funeral Home in Carlisle, with burial in Vandalia Cemetery.
Mr. Blood was born in Runnells and had lived in Des Moines since 1962. He was a retired sales representative for Nidy’s Pet Supply and Aquatics, and a member of Former Camp Center Church of Christ and the Mended Hearts Association.
Survivors include four daughters, Louise Beattie of Runnells, Mary Lou Gilson of Newton and Velda Kinney and Melva Rose, both of Altoona; a stepdaughter, Karen Rogers, and a stepson, Ronnie Anderson, both of Georgia; two sisters, Gladys Gulling of Runnells and Helen White of Mitchellville; nine grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
